The COS is an initiative of Intel in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications and Technology. The scheme is meant to enable registered students of Nigerian universities to own laptops/computers of their own via bank loans given to their parents/sponsors/guardians.

The Laptops accessible under this scheme are the Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium, and Intel Core laptops provided by selected vendors such as: Zinox Technologies Ltd, Omatek Ventures Plc, Beta Computers Ltd, etc

Students can access a solution bundle (which will include a laptop, a broadband connectivity package including USB modem, and content) starting from
N54,999.00 to N94,999.00. All price bands will include the entire solution bundle and will only vary according to the type of laptop.

Features of the Scheme

• Computer/Laptop acquisition loans given to parents/sponsors/guardians of students
• No equity contribution is required
• Interest rate is 18% p.a. and 2% upfront charges
• Repayment is spread for up to 18 months
• Monthly repayment sum is taken from account of parent/sponsor/guardian of the student

Requirement for participation in the scheme

• Only registered students of Nigerian Universities (State and Federal) can participate
• The student’s application must be endorsed by the student’s school authority
• Student’s parent/sponsor/guardian must be a current or salary account holder with Skye bank
