The Board of Skye Bank Plc has appointed Mr. Olatunde Ayeni as the new chairman of the bank following the retirement of the erstwhile chairman, Mrs Moronkeji Onasanya.

Onasanya bowed out on December 13, 2011 after serving the 12-year board membership limit set for non executive directors of banks by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

A statement issued by the bank said the new chairman, Ayeni, a non executive director of the bank, was educated at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, as a legal practitioner. He is an entrepreneur with interests in the real estate, aviation, maritime and financial services sectors.

According to the bank, the new chairman is also on the boards of several blue chip companies. Since he joined the board of the bank in January 2008, he has served in the Credit, Risk, Audit, and Nomination Committees of the Board prior to his appointment.

Similarly, another director who had served the maximum tenure of 12 years on the board of the bank, Princess Adenike Adeniran, has also retired in line with the CBN requirement. Prior to her retirement, Adeniran was the chairman of the board’s Credit Committee.

The statement quoted the bank’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti as expressing confidence that the new chairman would bring his wealth of experience to bear in the pursuit of the goals of the bank.

The Skye Bank boss also thanked the former chairman and Adeniran  for their service, commitment and contributions  to the growth of the bank and wished them a wonderful life in retirement.
